The Salvation Army Responds to Area Storm, Tornado Damage

Broken Arrow, OK  (May 18, 2015)  – As Broken Arrow residents surveyed damage from early Sunday morning storms, The Salvation Army was on site in the area offering support.

The Salvation Army canteen (mobile feeding unit) was out Sunday afternoon until mid-day Monday serving survivors, first responders and volunteers. More than 100 meals, 200 drinks and 200 snacks were served to those in need.

A tornado that appeared to hopscotch from southeast of Broken Arrow to Inola tore the roofs off homes, uprooted trees and damaged power lines early Sunday morning. The bulk of the damage appears to be in The Crossings neighborhood near the intersection of 91st Street and South 257th East Avenue. The Salvation Army canteen was set up nearby.

“We ask for prayers for all of those affected by the storms,” said Major Joseph Muré, Broken Arrow Salvation Army Corps Officer. “We are blessed there were no injuries.”

Monetary donations are the most critical need as supplies and personnel are mobilized.
