Texas SATERN Group Targets New Objectives, Training and Members

Dallas, TX – Salvation Army Team Emergency Radio Network (SATERN) is moving forward with plans for recruitment of new members which will include an enhanced training program. Texas Division Emergency Disaster Services Director, Alvin Migues states: “We see SATERN as an essential component of our overall disaster response strategy. Our SATERN Committee will guide us through the process of developing a three part plan to include recruitment, training and deployment tactics.”  The Texas Division is in the process of customizing a new Mobile Command Vehicle with Satellite Communications ready to deploy quickly to any disaster affected site. This Unit along with fixed radio sites, including the Disaster Services Warehouse, will increase the Divisions communications capabilities during a disaster.  SATERN in the Texas Division will also be assisting in the National Mass Care Exercise from June 8-10, 2015 in Austin, Texas.

About The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services:

“The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.” While every disaster is unique and creates its own special needs, the core of The Salvation Army's disaster program consists of several basic services. And while these services address many of the typical needs of a disaster survivor, Salvation Army disaster relief is also flexible. Our services are adapted to the specific needs of individuals and communities and scalable according to the magnitude of the disaster.
