Salvation Army of El Dorado Helps in Seach & Recovery
February 27, 2015 (El Dorado, AR) The El Dorado Salvation Army disaster team recently participated in a Search and Recovery effort in Union County Arkansas. The sheriff’s department had requested the local officer to participate in a planning meeting that occurred a few days prior to the search efforts.
The Salvation Army was asked to provide hydration, snacks and a meal to the volunteers and law enforcement officers participating in the search. The canteen (mobile feeding unit) sat up at Three Creeks Baptist Church to serve a hot breakfast and donuts as well as a hot lunch, snacks, coffee, soda and water. Search teams were able to grab refreshments and respite as they took shifts during the search and recovery effort.
Captain NaKisha Carr, El Dorado Corps Officer, and Majors Joanna and David Robinson, Conway Arkansas Corps Officers, coordinated the response. The canteen and a bus were deployed to serve with a team of seven employees and volunteers from El Dorado. The Sheriff shared with Major Robinson as to how pleased he was with the efforts of the response team. Major David Robinson stated “The praise goes to the crew from the El Dorado Corps. They were willing to help anyway possible.”
The Salvation Army from El Dorado will be notified in the future of any events the Sheriff’s department has come up in which they need assistance.
