On December 30th 2014, The Salvation Army - Puerto Rico/Virgin Island Division received a request for assistance from the State’s Search and Rescue department. The Salvation Army had been called on to provide additional support to volunteers and staff looking for a missing person, who was suspected to have drowned in “La Esperanza” beach in Manati, PR. For several days after, the Army provided refreshments and spiritual support to emergency management personnel. Overall, The Salvation Army prepared and served 1,565 meals and drinks to volunteers and first responders.
