Salvation Army COLD PATROL Canteen to Hit the Streets of New Orleans
New Orleans, LA, (11-13-2014) - Due to cold weather impacting New Orleans, LA, The Salvation Army will be patrolling the streets of New Orleans to assist those in need. The COLD PATROL utilizes The Salvation Army’s full-service mobile canteen on wheels to distribute gloves, hats, blankets, coffee and hot chocolate to those exposed to the severe weather. The canteen will deploy at 8pm on November 13th and will patrol throughout the night.
An additional Salvation Army vehicle will accompany the canteen to transport anyone in need of overnight shelter to The Salvation Army Center of Hope on South Claiborne. Captain David Worthy, the Area Commander in New Orleans advised, “The overarching objective of the COLD PATROL is to get those living on the streets into shelter and out of danger.”
