Greenwood, MS Says "Thanks" to Local First Responders
Greenwood, MS (September, 11, 2014) - In Remembrance of 9/11, the Greenwood Salvation Army recently held their annual First Responder Luncheon. In its second year, this event acts as a memorial to those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, as well as a time to thank the local first responders for their service. Attendees at this year’s luncheon included local Fire, Police, Sheriff’s deputies and Postal Carriers.
The Salvation Army has had a special relationship with September 11th memorials in the years since the devastating events 13 years ago. Greenwood Salvation Army Lt. Wendy Deuel advised, “This is our chance to show the men and women of our community how much they mean to us.” In addition to The Salvation Army personnel from the Greenwood Corps, a student representative from Mississippi Valley State University also volunteered their service for the day.
