Moore, OK (May 29, 2013, 8:00 p.m.) -- The Salvation Army continues emergency disaster response to survivors of the tornado outbreak that devastated several communities around the Oklahoma City area on May 19th and 20th.
Severe weather warnings on May 29 prompted The Salvation Army to slightly modify services in the interest of protecting the safety of the public and Emergency Disaster Services personnel, with roving feedings by canteen and in-kind distribution at the Plaza Mayor at the Crossroads being suspended around 2:30 in the afternoon.
The Salvation Army will continue to monitor weather forecasts and conditions through the week and may modify services as necessary to ensure the safety of our staff, officers, volunteers, and those we serve.
UPDATES BY LOCATION
The Salvation Army will continue to provide relief services for tornado survivors indefinitely. Food, hydration, emotional and spiritual care and other supplies are being provided to residents of the heavily impacted areas including: Cleveland County (Little Axe), Lincoln County (Carney), Pottawatomie County (Shawnee and surrounding area) and Moore.

As of May 29, 2013, The Salvation Army has provided 35,626 meals, 50,935 drinks, and 37,804 snacks, 18 Canteens (mobile feeding units), 978 Clean Up and 1,064 Comfort (hygiene) kits, and prayer with 4,623 persons since Sunday, May 19. More than 8,000 man-hours have been logged by volunteers, employees and officers.

• The Salvation Army maintains a fleet of disaster vehicles and supply warehouses across the United States to enable speedy mobilization.
• There are more than 300 emergency response vehicles in the eastern and southern United States alone and nearly 600 units nationwide.
• These units are able to serve thousands of meals and drinks per day when operating at full capacity.

• A $30 donation provides one food box, containing staple foods for a family of four, or one household cleanup kit, containing brooms, mops, buckets and other cleaning supplies.

• A $250 donation can provide one hot meal to 100 people or keep a hydration station operational for 24 hours.
