Search and Rescue Efforts Receive Continued Support from The Salvation Army

Oxford, Miss (May 3, 2013) In spite of unseasonably cool temperatures and steady rainfall, search teams in Lafayette County, Mississippi remain vigilant in the search for a missing teenager. The search and rescue has centered on an area of the Yocona River near grinder’s Switch where the truck of the missing man was found abandoned.

As water logged first responders exit the water near the river bank, they are met with hot coffee, hot meals and hydration from Salvation Army volunteers supporting the rescue operation. Since the search and rescue began volunteers from The Salvation Army in Oxford and a mobile feeding unit from Tupelo have remained on site to serve volunteers and first responders vigilantly searching since Monday.

Salvation Army personnel will remain on site serving searchers until rescue efforts conclude.

“We are honored to serve alongside so many selfless responders and volunteers who continue to brave the elements in search of this young man,” stated Lisa Coleman of The Salvation Army. “We will remain vigilant and prayerful throughout the weekend for the family and responders.”
