The Salvation Army Serves Families Awaiting Carnival Triumph In Mobile

Mobile, Ala. (February 14, 2013) The Salvation Army Coastal Alabama Area Command is working in cooperation with the City of Mobile as part of the provision of hospitality to families and friends waiting to meet passengers of the Carnival Triumph at the Mobile Cruise terminal.

Salvation Army personnel are presently providing snacks, coffee, hot chocolate and hot meals to families of passengers awaiting the arrival of their loved ones to Mobile.

Estimated arrival times for the ship are close to midnight tonight and Salvation Army personnel will remain vigilant in their efforts until the ship has docked.

“Each of these families are awaiting the assurance that their loved ones are safe and secure. We can only imagine the anxiety each must be experiencing,” stated Major Mark Brown of The Salvation Army Coastal Alabama Area Command. “We pray that our presence can be a source of hope and calm a midst their concern.”

Financial donations are still needed to support disaster relief efforts.  The Salvation Army asks those who want to help to visit www.disaster.salvationarmyusa.org or call 1-800-SAL-ARMY and designate Disaster Relief.  Donors may text “GIVE” to 80888.  Checks may be made out to The Salvation Army Disaster Relief, P.O. Box 100339, Atlanta, GA 30384-0339.  Monetary donations will ensure The Salvation Army can meet the most immediate needs of those impacted by disaster.
