AmeriCares Sending Salvation Army Emergency Aid for Hurricane Isaac

Stamford, CT (August 28, 2012) – AmeriCares is rushing to send family emergency kits and cleaning supplies for Mississippi families in Isaac’s path. The relief supplies are expected to arrive tomorrow – on the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina – as the storm drenches the Gulf Coast in up to 20 inches of rain. AmeriCares is providing household cleaning kits, mops and family emergency kits – tote bags stocked with soap, shampoo, toothbrushes and other personal care items for families displaced by the storm. The kits will be distributed by The Salvation Army in Gulfport.

“Our relief supplies are en route and will be ready for distribution as soon as tomorrow,” said AmeriCares Director of Emergency Response Garrett Ingoglia. “We are in close communication with health care providers and partner organizations throughout the Gulf Coast and are prepared to send additional aid and relief workers if needed.”
