Salvation Army of Chattanooga Deploys Immediate Assistance To Storm Torn Areas

Chattanooga, TN (March 2, 2012)–The Salvation Army quickly responded today with emergency disaster assistance to Hamilton and Bradley counties providing spiritual and emotional care and food and beverages.  In Chattanooga, over 200 meals were served to the evacuee center located at Bayside Baptist Church on Highway 58 in Harrison, TN.  Emergency personnel were stationed at the Emergency Operations Center in Hamilton County and at The Salvation Army headquarters in both Hamilton and Bradley counties.  

The Salvation Army of Cleveland Tennessee served as a shelter for 31 people seeking refuge from the storms and 18 disaster relief workers who were on stand-by to assist with the aftermath from the severe weather on Friday, March 2.  Water and food for 250 is on the Emergency Relief catering truck and being distributed to those affected by the storms and to emergency personnel working throughout the night.  We are asking for all Disaster Volunteers to please stay tuned to social media venues or text “CLEhelp” to 27138 to offer your services. For Cleveland residents, please call 423-728-7289 to report damage or request assistance.
