The Salvation Army of Greater Chattanooga Still Serving Tornado Survivors

Chattanooga, TN (October 27, 2011) - The Salvation Army is unique in that it needs not wait for national approval to be deployed or to cease service. That is why The Salvation Army is one of the first relief organizations on the scene of a disaster and one of the last to leave. That is certainly true in The Tennessee Valley after deadly storms blew through, six months ago on April 27, 2011.

The Salvation Army of Chattanooga and Cleveland are still serving today! Long Term Recovery Coordinators are visiting with tornado survivors to see what unmet needs still exist. The Disaster Recovery Warehouse in Cleveland is still being managed by The Salvation Army and is still serving the community. The Warehouse is located at 2960 Barney Lane. The Salvation Army Emergency Mobile Kitchen is serving in Apison, TN at the corner of Clonts Rd and Apison Pike at what is called the “Open House.”

“We will continue to Do the Most Good, for the most people, in the most need,” states Major Al Newsome, Salvation Army Area Commander.

The Chattanooga community has been extremely generous in Tornado Relief efforts, and resources have come from throughout The Salvation Army Southern Territory.
