Norcross, GA - May 10, 2011 – Joes’ Crab Shack, a well-know seafood restaurant chain will do its part to help Georgia and Alabama families begin the long process of rebuilding their lives from the tornadoes of April 28.
On May 12, for twelve straight hours between 11:00a.m. and 11:00p.m., Joe’s Crab Shack will host a fundraiser to donate 10% of patrons’ checks to The Salvation Army which has been on the ground providing for the immediate needs of tornado survivors in Georgia and Alabama. From their canteens (mobile feeding units), The Salvation Army in Georgia has provided nearly 14,000 meals, 27,000 cold drinks, 5,000 snacks, and 5,000 clean-up and personal hygiene kits along with emotional and spiritual care to Georgians who have lost relatives, homes, and personal possessions in this massive storm.
Major Jim Arrowood, Divisional Commander for the Georgia Division of The Salvation Army says, “The first phase of our disaster response in which we address the most urgent needs of shocked and dazed survivors is complete. Now we start the long and arduous trek of helping families plan for long-term recovery. Partnerships like this with Joe’s Crab Shack provide us with more resources for recovery phase assistance.”
Participating customers in Douglasville, Duluth, Kennesaw, Morrow, Stone Mountain, GA, and Hoover, AL may present a special newspaper coupon to their server to receive credit for their organization.
