Salvation Army Responding to Three Oklahoma Wildfires

Oklahoma City, OK – The Salvation Army is currently responding to three different wildfires at the request of Oklahoma Emergency Managers in three different counties.  Below is a report on the responses occurring at each location.

Trail Road – Comanche County – Captain Hull, Lawton Corps Officer, arrived on the scene shortly after 2:00 this afternoon with a van loaded with snacks and drinks and to assess the situation.  Upon arriving, he quickly served over 150 snacks and drinks.  Lt. Biddix, Chickasha Corps Officer, went to Lawton to help finish preparing meals for the responders and load up the Lawton canteen (mobile feeding unit).  As of 10:00 PM, he and Captain Hull were still on the site serving.

Stephens County – A crew from Ardmore as well as the canteen arrived on the scene in Velma late afternoon.  They went prepared to serve 250 meals; however, service was still occurring as of late this evening.

Love County – Another crew from Ardmore was asked to assist at a wildfire in Orr.  They were asked to provide at least 150 meals and hydration.  At this time, they are still on the scene.

Currently, the Arkansas-Oklahoma Division is putting other crews and canteens on stand-by to help provide additional services and relieve some of the crews who have been fighting disasters around the clock for the last few days.

Additional information will be provided as it is available.
