The Salvation Army Responds to Multiple Locations In Oklahoma Affected by Tornadoes

May 19, 2013 – Oklahoma City, OK - The Salvation Army of Arkansas and Oklahoma is becoming active in disaster response to several areas as a result of weather related events. A strong storm system crossed Oklahoma this afternoon that developed multiple thunderstorms and tornadoes across the State of Oklahoma.

OKLAHOMA
Pottawatomie County
The Central Oklahoma Area Command mobile feeding unit (canteen) as well as the Shawnee Catering truck has been dispatched to support search, rescue and recovery efforts near Shawnee, where multiple sites were affected by tornadoes.  This evening, dinner and snacks will be provided to responders as well as storm survivors.  Beginning in the morning, Monday, May 20, the McAlester canteen will assist Shawnee with service all day in the Shawnee area.

Lincoln County
Additionally, the Enid canteen is being deployed to the Carney area to provide dinner and snacks this evening as well as providing services all day on Monday, May 20.

Cleveland County
Upon arrival of the McAlester canteen to the Shawnee area on Monday morning, the Central Oklahoma Area Command’s canteen will move to the Norman area for service to first responders and those affected by the tornadoes that hit in the area earlier today.
