From Midwest Food Bank with Love

Naples, FL – Deb, William, Eve, Ray, Greg, Michele, and Arianna, along with their coworkers, are individuals who have never traveled to Collier County in Florida. In fact, up until two weeks ago, this community had never crossed their minds, yet their compassion, generosity, and warm thoughts will serve as a beacon hope for weeks to come.

These individuals are employees of the Midwest Food Bank who packed 1,600 foods boxes that will be delivered to affected families throughout the community. This act of compassion fulfills their mission, which is, “As a faith-based organization, it is the mission of Midwest Food Bank to alleviate hunger and poverty by gathering and distributing food donations to not-for-profits and disaster sites without cost to the recipients.”

“We are appreciative of Midwest Food Bank’s partnership,” shared Bob Myers, Naples Incident Commander. “The commitment to their mission and ours will ensure hope and help is given to those in need throughout Collier County.”

For Midwest Food Bank employees, the packing and delivery of food boxes is not just a job requirement.  For their employees, it is an act of love. In fact, included with the food box delivery was a large banner dotted with encouraging words of strength and peace:

Michele said, “Sending food for your belly and prayers for your soul.  Turn your worries over to God. Good luck.”

"We hope this goes a little way to help in all the efforts to get you back on your feet," William wished.

And, Arianna prayed, “Prayers for everyone. May God be with us all!”

In times of crisis, we are all reminded that we are connected by the common thread of humanity.  Love translates the same in every language. May God be with us all!
