The Salvation Army Feeding Law Enforcement in Kaufman, Texas
Dallas, TX (February 6, 2013) - Following the fatal shooting of Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse in Kaufman, Texas, The Salvation Army is providing meals and refreshment to law enforcement personnel involved in the investigation.
The Salvation Army was approached on Monday by the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department through Victim Relief Ministries to assist the county by feeding the surge of law enforcement personnel. Brenda Smith, the Director of The Salvation Army Kaufman Service Center, confirmed the details of this request and in response The Salvation Army mobile kitchen has been deployed. This unit has the capacity to serve up to 2,500 meals per day.
Major Ernest Brancsum is overseeing the operation supported by personnel from the Fort Worth Northside Corps and Kaufman Service Center. On Wednesday The Salvation Army served 55 people breakfast and lunch to 90 individuals. Due to the nature of this incident and response the food is being prepared in the mobile kitchen before being delivered and served at another secure location. It is anticipated that meals will be served through Thursday and will continue as long as is needed.
