The Salvation Army Rome, GA Services to Tornado Survivors Remain Steady

ROME, GA – Starting their relief response to tornado victims in Rome, Floyd County last night, The Salvation Army Rome Corps rolled up its sleeves to start mending the brokenness in their community.

Where one disaster service unit is in full operation, and one Family Store Truck doubling as delivery truck for meals to a mobile home park, repair is well underway.

According to Captain Tim Farrell, Rome’s Corps Officer, “Two hundred mobile homes and approximately 250 persons were impacted by Wednesday night’s tornado.  But, this community knows The Salvation Army is here to be of service in the ways they need us most.”

From last night until today, 1 canteen on site in Rome provided this aid:

• 90 dinners were served on April 28
• 600 bottles of water were distributed
• 50 breakfast meals were April 29
• 90 lunches were provided
• Approximately 500 dinners will be served tonight on April 29
• Spiritual and emotional care was given to approximately 10 persons

The Salvation Army is grateful to the public for their continued support.

At this point, in-kind donations are not being accepted outside the disaster area.  Used clothing and used furniture are seldom required during an incident.  However, these gifts are vitally important in supporting the day-to-day work of your local Salvation Army.
