SALVATION ARMY OF NORFOLK OPENS DISASTER RESOURCE CENTER – PROVIDING LOCAL RESOURCES IN NORTHEAST NEBRASKA FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY RECENT FLOODING

The Salvation Army of Norfolk recently opened a Disaster Resource Center (DRC) at its Corps building at 610 W. Norfolk Ave.

The DRC is a place for people affected by the recent flooding to come to in order to pick up flood-relief items and get additional support.  The DRC is staffed by a team of Salvation Army officers and employees.

As people arrive at the DRC, they will meet with a Salvation Army team member, complete a brief intake form, and will then be guided through part of the building where flood-relief items have been organized and placed for ease of pickup.  Among the items available for pick-up (while supplies last):  bottled water, mops, buckets, shovels, rakes, bleach, work gloves, personal hygiene items, blankets and household cleaning supplies.  People needing flood-relief items will need to bring a photo ID with them.

Donations of flood-cleanup items will also be accepted at the Norfolk DRC.

The Norfolk DRC’s hours will be Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and again from 1 p.m.-4 p.m.  Weekend pickups should be scheduled in advance by making an appointment; this can be done by calling the corps at (402) 379-4663.

The DRC will continue operations until further notice.

For more information on the DRC, please call (402) 379-4663.
