Oklahoma Salvation Army Asked To Assist With Wildfire Response

Oklahoma City, OK - The Arkansas-Oklahoma Division of The Salvation Army has been asked to assist with wildfire response in addition to the continued response in Tushka, Oklahoma. The following is a brief summary based on information known at this time.

Tushka, Oklahoma– The Salvation Army served 100 meals during breakfast.  The Salvation Army is coordinating feeding efforts with American Red Cross and the Choctaw Nation.  In addition, at the request of Emergency Management, they helped to facilitate the delivery of seven pallets of tarp material with the assistance of the Red Cross.  Additionally, The Salvation Army helped facilitate, with the Methodists, delivery of hammers, nails, and tack strips for tarp needs.

Currently, an Ardmore crew is serving out of the Tulsa canteen.  It is anticipated that feeding service will be discontinued on Monday as electricity is restored to homes and businesses still intact.

Between Lawton and Duncan, Oklahoma – Captain Hull, Lawton Corps Officer, was activated via emergency management at 1:50 PM this afternoon.  He is on his way to a wildfire east of Lawton to assess the situation and needs.  Lt. James Biddix, Chickasha Corps Officer, has been placed on stand-by for assistance.

StephensCounty, Oklahoma - The Ardmore, Oklahoma mobile feeding unit is responding to a wildfire in Velma.  They have been asked to provide 250 meals.
