Denver, CO (September 30, 2013) – The Salvation Army recently responded to a unique request from Boulder County—to join a mobile Disaster Assistance Center (DAC) that will expand accessible disaster relief services to flood survivors in western Boulder County. “Mobile Disaster Assistance Centers are unusual and allow us to bring services closer to the point of need,” says Ken Cavallero, Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services Coordinator, whose most recent memory of participating in a mobile DAC was in response to the devastating floods that hit Sacremento, CA, during the 1990s. “It’s a good thing to be able to meet needs at the doorstep and save people from a long drive during such a stressful time.”

Since activation, The Salvation Army has been there for first responders and evacuees across flood-ravaged Colorado communities and has provided 8,221 hours of service, 145,028 meals and nutritional items, and 236,943 drinks.
The Salvation Army will continue to be there doing the most good for those impacted by the Colorado floods throughout the long recovery road ahead and will support Colorado until the healing is complete.
