The Salvation Army of Columbia SC Opening Disaster Assistance Center

Columbia, SC (October 17, 2015)-The Salvation Army of the Midlands is opening a Disaster Assistance Center (DAC) to provide assistance to households impacted by recent flooding in the Columbia, South Carolina area. Clean-up kits, food boxes, and clothing vouchers to The Salvation Army Family Store will be distributed to qualified households by appointment only.

**A FEMA ID number is required to receive assistance. Register through FEMA by visiting DisasterAssistance.gov or call (800) 621-3362.**

DATES:  October 19 - October 24 (closed Sunday) and October 26 - October 27
The hours of operation are 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. 
Assistance is by appointment only.

LOCATION: The Salvation Army Disaster Assistance Center, 3400 Forest Drive, Columbia 29016 (old Eckerd building at the Richland Mall).

WHAT TO BRING:  Picture ID and FEMA print out with nine digit FEMA ID number are required to be served. Both names must match to recieve service at appointment time.

How Your Donations Help
• A $10 donation feeds a disaster survivor for one day.
• A $30 donation provides one food box, containing staple foods for a family of four, or one household       cleanup kit, containing brooms, mops, buckets, and other cleaning supplies.
• A $100 donation can serve snacks and drinks for 125 survivors and emergency personnel at the        
  scene of a disaster.
• A $250 donation can provide one hot meal to 100 people or keep a hydration station operational for
  24 hours.
• A $500 donation keeps a Salvation Army canteen (mobile feeding unit) fully operational for one day.
