The Salvation Army Serving Meals Across The Florida Panhandle

PANAMA CITY, FL (October 12, 2018) – As debris is cleared from roadways, The Salvation Army is moving into the areas most impacted by Hurricane Michael to begin assessing needs and providing service.

In partnership with Operation BBQ Relief, The Salvation Army has established a service site in Panama City Beach that will help provide meals and much-needed supplies throughout the surrounding counties.

“We’ve deployed a bunkhouse and shower trailer to support staff and volunteers that are beginning service delivery,” says Steven Hartsook, Director of Emergency Disaster Services for The Salvation Army. “Because of the improved conditions of roadways, our relief teams can start entering areas and serving meals.”

The Salvation Army is working with corporate partners to establish communications in Panama City that will help facilitate operations and service.

More than 40 Salvation Army mobile feeding kitchens are committed to serve in locations throughout Panama City, Tallahassee, and the surrounding areas. Each unit can serve 500 to1,500 meals per day.
