The Salvation Army Midland Division Opens Cooling Centers in MO and IL

St. Louis, Mo. – The Salvation Army Midland Division is opening daytime cooling centers in Missouri and Illinois as a result of the Excessive Heat Watch issued by the National Weather Service. The advisory remains in effect from Tuesday, July 18 through Saturday, July 22.

Cooling center locations are activated when The National Weather Service issues an excessive heat watch with high temperatures from 95 to 103 degrees and increasing humidity resulting in heat index values around 105 degrees or higher, with 110+ degrees across the St. Louis metro and surrounding areas.

The Salvation Army Corps will operate cooling centers in collaboration with local coalitions. A Corps is The Salvation Army’s worship centers. The locations and hours of the cooling centers are listed below:
