THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN SUPPORTING THE SALVATION ARMY’S EMERGENCY DISASTER SERVICES PROGRAM AND ITS DISASTER RESPONSE OPERATIONS!
There are three easy ways for you to donate during a disaster.
Monetary Donations
The best way to help during a disaster is often to make a financial contribution to the charity of your choice. Cash donations allow disaster responders to immediately meet the specific needs of disaster survivors without incurring many of the costs associated with sorting, packing, transporting and distributing donated goods. Salvation Army disaster services are funded entirely by donors, and The Salvation Army uses 100% of all disaster donations in support of disaster relief operations.

In-Kind Donations
Before beginning any in-kind donation drive, contact your local Salvation Army to confirm the need before collecting. Get precise information about what products are needed, where and when. Consider shipping arrangements; most charities do not have the resources to arrange transportation. Any goods that are sent should be sorted, appropriately packed, palletized and shrink-wrapped before being shipped to the disaster area. Donors should be wary of anyone who claims that "everything is needed." Communities hit by a disaster can be quickly overwhelmed by well-intentioned but uncoordinated shipments of donated goods and often do not have the time, manpower or money to dispose of unneeded product.
CORPORATE DONORS:
The Salvation Army is grateful for the support of corporate America and the private sector. Corporate in-kind gift offers are welcomed through the contacts below:
» Northeast United States, e-mail lindsay.evans@use.salvationarmy.org

USED CLOTHING, FURNITURE AND CARS:
Used clothing, furniture and cars are usually not needed during a disaster response. However, these gifts are vitally important in supporting the day-to-day work of your local Salvation Army. Please consider giving these items to our thrift stores and benefitting The Salvation Army’s work within your local community.
To Schedule a Pick Up:
Call 1-800-SA-TRUCK (1-800-728-7825) to discuss a pick up of your items or to find out the nearest drop off location. Callers not residing in the Northeastern United States can call 1-800-95-TRUCK (1-800-958-7825) for donation information and assistance.

VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME AND SKILLS
Volunteer wisely to help others.
In a community struggling to respond and recover from a disaster, an influx of unexpected or unneeded volunteers can make the process even more difficult. Never travel to the disaster area on your own. Instead, learn where and when your skills will be needed by affiliating with the charitable disaster responder of your choice.
To become a Salvation Army disaster volunteer, contact your local Salvation Army or register online today.
